About this property

Welcome to Hotel Strand Continental

Located on the bustling Strand in central London, Hotel Strand Continental offers budget-friendly accommodations in a convenient townhouse setting. The property features a mix of rooms and dormitory options, making it suitable for solo travelers and groups who value proximity to major attractions such as Somerset House, Covent Garden, and the South Bank. Popular landmarks like Trafalgar Square, the British Museum, and the London Eye are easily accessible from the hotel.

The hotel maintains a modest 3.2-star rating, reflecting a blend of practical comfort and some dated elements. Guest feedback often highlights the cleanliness and helpfulness of the staff alongside simple, functional rooms. Facilities include free Wi-Fi, a complimentary breakfast, a 1940s colonial-style bar, and an on-site Indian restaurant, although there is no parking, fitness center, pool, or airport shuttle available. Rooms tend to be on the smaller side, and shared bathrooms require consideration by taller or larger guests.

To begin with, my review is based on its location and cost. It enjoys the ideal location for anyone to travel in Central London. Most of the must-go places, like Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, museums, even major train stations and interchanges are within walking distance. Underground stations, like Temple and Embankment, are just 5-7 minutes walk. The lobby service was great and the room was clean and tidy - at least for my situation as I was in a single room. Shower room and toilet are shared and they are small. Again, with this price, and we are talking about Central London, I was fine with this. Bad side - whenever the security door closes, it makes a very loud noise. The door lock was also confusing as I was not sure how to lock/unlock the door.

Absolutely brilliant hotel. Stayed for 1 night and we enjoyed the whole experience. Fantastic location, lovely interior, superb staff, clean surroundings, the room although slightly small, did not spoil our time, supplied with a range of tea and coffee, water in a bottle and lovely chocolate. The room was clean and modern. Breakfast was out of this world, spoiled for choice with a huge range of varieties including continental and a full English breakfast plus so much more. Nobody watches what you eat and you can Absolutely enjoy everything if you have the appetite. I would stay here again, thoroughly good stay.

A cheap and cheerful hostel, room was basic but clean, with fresh bedding and a clean towel. Bathroom facilities all seemed clean but are due an update. If you are very tall or of fuller figure the shower is a bit of a tight fit. Anyone over 6' will have to bend down to get under the shower. Nice extra was the free breakfast (toast and cereal) You will need a £10 refundable deposit for the key.

The staff is very friendly, good price and nice area well connected in terms of public transport as it's a quote short walking distance from Temple (Circle and District line) and Holborn (Central and Piccadilly line). The rooms are clean and the beds are fairly comfortable. It's a hostel so don't expect to sleep hugged to prince Charles (which to be fair would be awkward as I'd spend the night awake staring at his ears) on a mattress that change shape according to your position during sleep to optimize the R.E.M. phase but if your expectations in terms of comfort are realistic they will be met or exceeded. If you hate the stairs and/or are carrying a heavy lugjgage, it's probably not the best place j. On a positive note, when I was checking out a member of staff saw me struggling and brought my luggage from the room to the reception: I salute you with genuine respect and gratitude on my heart: I wish I asked what your name was and send a positive feedback to your boss: in the past I've been working in places where and email from a happy customer meant extra money on that week's payslip?

I was there for 9 days in June. My first hostel experience. Quaint, simple clean bedroom shared with 2 others. I'm sure I was the oldest person there (61). The staff was INCREDIBLY helpful and kind. I was jet lagged and disorganized, brought too much luggage and guitar.(busking) They offered places to store so I didn't have to haul up 5 floors. Everyone was SO gracious, great tender at the lounge. Location perfect.

It really depends on your expectations whether or not this is a good place for you. Location is amazing, right near everything and close to transit. The staff are friendly and helpful. As a solo female traveller, I never felt unsafe. A little irritating that there is no wifi in the rooms, but this just forces you to get out a bit, so not a big deal. Room was small, but clean. It is a bit dated, but really in the end you just can't beat the price and location.

The hotel is super well placed, outside you have so many restaurants, bars, and supermarkets. The staff was friendly, and the checkout is super fast. The elevators are quite weird, slow and very tinny. The map to find your room, was kinda funny, felt sort of a gamification. The breakfast buffet is nice and there's a good assortment to choose from. Had 1-person room, it had a bit of all essencials and they left a bottle of water everyday. The noise is okish, I could listen to people talking (normally) in the next room. All in all it is a good hotel.

A very basic but clean room with a comfortable bed. The shared bathroom facilities were adequate. I skipped breakfast so can't comment on the quality of the food. Staff at check in and check out were very friendly and informative. The main selling point of this place, of course, is the price. At £50-60 for a single room, it's significantly cheaper than even the cheapest "proper" hotels in the area and makes for a good crash pad for the night.
